ROTORUA ATTRACTIONS.
BIG HOLIDAY PROGEAMME. (By Telegraph—Special to "Star.") ROTORUA, this day. At a meeting of the Borough Publicity and Amusement Committee the following were present:—The-Mayor (Mr. C. H. Clinkard) and Councillors J. N. McLean (chairman), W. W. P. Hall, W. B. Nesbitt, Messrs. J. Banks, W. Cooper, H. J. Sanders, J. T. Dixon A. V. P. Ford. It was reported that the number of week-end excursionists on the 21st ultimo was about double those on the previous occasion. The native enter- , tainments, by invitation of the Rev. Tamuera (Ohinemutu), were well attended, and he had promised to advise the result of a further meeting, to be held: at Ohinemutu to-morrow. Negotiations were also proceeding with the : natives at Whakarewarewa. The committee would welcome a combination of forces, as far as the Maoris are concerned, in the band and orchestra, as it has been found that a set of band instruments which it was thought might be secured from Auckland was not available. It was' decided to engage the town band to play one evening per week and an orchestra to play one evening weekly, also a carnival week. A proposal to hold a week's carnival, probably in March, was unanimously approved. The executive strongly favoured holding a concert on Christmas evening, aud also a special entertainment suitable to the occasion on New Year's Eve, It was resolved to request tho Borough Council to allot as a first instalment £300 to the Advertising Committee and £200 to the Entertainment Committee Councillors McLean, Hall and Xcabitt, with the town clerk, were appointed a sub-committee to report on details for the collection of tlie 1/ surcharge, which it is desirable to introduce before the Christmas holidays. It was resolved to ask the Choral Society's ussistanca and co-operation in public entertainment,
