Dear Sir: It affords the Continuance Party very much pleasure'to accept the challenge of the Prohibition Alliance in a debate, to be held in the Town Hall, on Tuesday, November 3rd (the Town Hall being engaged for the Prime Minister's speech on the evening of the 2nd) . We agree that the subject of " Continuance is of tremendous importance to New Zealand, *' and therefore will debate the subject of ' 'Prohibition Versus Continuance,'' on the conditions herein outlined. ,(1) In order, to ensure that both sides have an equal chance of fair representation? admission to the Town Hall to be by ticket only, half to be taken by the Continuance Party and half by the Prohibition Party. |(2) That a charge of 1/- per ticket be made,; the gross receipts toibe handed to the Jubilee Institute foi the Blind. '(3) Arrangements to be made for a full and independent report to be taken by ''The New Zealand Herald,' * and to be published ' 'by arrangement.'' '(4) An independent Chairman to be chosen, preferably one of the Stipendiary Magistrates of the Province. The Issues of the debate to be: — (a) The difference between Temperance and Prohibition. (b) The effects Prohibition would have on the people of New Zealand. (c) The result's of Prohibition. (d) The precedent that Prohibition would establish.
