MR. HALL SKELTON'S CAMPAIGN.
SPEECH AT POTTER'S PARK.
Mr. Hall Skelton addressed a very large gathering in Potter's Park last night—
one of the largest meetings round Auckland this election. He traced the economic causes of high rents, high cost of living, low purchasing power of the sovereign, deserted farms, low birth rate increased social offences, enormous rise in debt cases and ejectments fro'ni tenements and large rise in suicides and insanity to the mishandling of land and unjust taxation. "I have proved to you the strongest possible case against the Government. It is for my opponents to refute my economic reasoning and give up side tracking the issues before the country by political hysterics and bogies of 'Bolshie,'" said the candidate. The Government exponents stand before the country with absolutely no bona-fide politics or policy. I want votes gained by honest arguments; I do not want them gained by false pretences. A number of questions were satisfactorily answered. Interpections were few. One person, arriving late, exclaimed: '"Gee whizz, what, a crowd! We had only 38, including a dozen policemen, at Viv's. ,, (Laughter.)
A vote of thanks and confidence was carried amid cheers.
