A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

EXCELLENT FINANCIAL POSITION. RAILWAY DEPARTMENT CRITICISED.

Mr. W. W. Massey presided at an executive committee meeting ot the A. and P. Association this afternoon. : A letter was received from the Auck- 1 land Trotting Club statin? that it had I again been decided to donate £100 to the association on the same conditions as , last year. Mr. C. J. Park, principal of the • Seddon Technical College, intimated that : the twelve boys asked for would be available at the forthcoming Summer ! Show. The communication stated that the college authorities were very pleased , to think that the agriculture boys should develop in the way" they had. The hope was expressed that they will thus be j induced to take a real interest in the I -V. and P. Association and in time will become valuable members. The district engineer for railways wrote advising the association that in connection with the rearrangement of Otahnhu station yard it has been found Ineces.-ary to acquire by proclamation a I .-Trip of land, the property of the association, extending from Wright. StephenI son's boundary to the Canal Creek. As !ir will shortly bo necessary to enter on this land the district engineer requested that the association's tenants lie notified of the Department's intention. It was stated that interest at 1 per cent would be paid from date of entry on the purchase money, to be agreed upon later. It was decided to set up a committee to go into the matter. During the course of discussion members complained of tiie Department's action in taking the *trip. It was pointed out that any land the Government required could be taken under the Public Works Act. and no objection could be made. If this practice was allowed to continue as far as the association's property at Otabuhu i was concerned, soon there would be nothing left of the land which was most [required by the association. Members congratulated the association on the financial position. The secretary ' Mr. A. D. Stanley i had previously stated that the overdraft at the bank only amounted to £200. and the Winter Show money had yet to come to hand. It was declared that this was the first .time in the association's history that tiie I future had been so rosy. I
