CANDIDATES START OFF.

FIRST SHOTS TO-MORROW.

The opening shot in the political campaign round Auckland will be fired tomorrow, when Sir James Parr will address his constituents of Eden at Brigham's Creek schoolroom in the afternoon, and at Whenuapai Public Hall in the evening. Mr. W. E. Parry, member for City Central, addressed a meeting of his supporters at the Trades Hall last night, emphasising the necessity lor solidarity in the Labour ranks during the forthcoming election, and explaining on his own behalf that he, in common with other sitting members, would be called on during the course of the campaign to address meetings outside his own electorate for the purpose of expounding tiie Labour platform, and dealing with the defects of the present administration. At the meeting 41 committee was set up to further Mr. Parry's candidature.

Mr. John Massey, who is contesting the Manukau scat in the Reform interest, will meet and address his supporters at Waikowhai Hall this evening, and at the Mount Wellington Road Board office to-morrow.

Mr. A. Hall Skclton, the Liberal candidate for Roskill. will open his campaign with an address to the electors at the Capital Theatre, Dominion Road terminus, on Monday evening, when Mr. G. M. Fowlds will preside.

In the Thames electorate Mr. W. E. G. Willy, the National party candidate, will address the electors to-night at the Whangamarino School, and to-morrow at the Rangiriri School.

The Reform candidate for Ohinemuri, Mr. A. M. Samuel, will start his campaign at Hikutaia on Monday evening; being at Springriale on Tuesday, Netherton on Wedi.. .day, and l'aeroa on Thursday.

The sitting member for Rotorua, Mr F. F. Hockly, will speak at Rotorua to morrow night.
