DEPORTATION URGED.

DAKGEE. OF EXTREMISTS. CAUSE OF PRESENT UNREST. "The dangerous and poisonous doctrines of extremists are responsible for misleading -workers -who -would not otherwise take part in the dissolution of the Empire. The maiorirv of these extremists come to Xew Zealand from abroad and steps should be immediately taken to have them deported." This was the plea of Mr. Albert Spencer at the annua! meeting of the Auckland Provincial Employers' Association this afternoon. The speaker then described the recent Australian shipping and railway strikes as "an example of the folly of State enterprise." in which every obstacle had been placed in the wav to hinder and hamper the running of State steamers. "It is indeed sad." he said, "to see that unions which have done so much for the labouring classes have been captured by these extreme Labour Communists who are now running these particular unions for their own sinister purposes. The prosperity and well-being of Australia and New Zealand is at stake, and industry is seriously handicapped and crippled by these continual hold-ups. It if throwing a greater strain on man Tiiac taring- industries which are competing -with imported foreign roods. .Both Australia and New Zealand are blessed with untold wealth, widely distributed amongst all classe?. and how can we possibly compete in the world"? markets -with our primary products if such a continued dislocation of trade and industry exist sthrongh such strikes ? "There is a certain section who are determined to keep the industries of the country ia a continual state of turmoil. Tney have already attacked the shipping and rail-way? and coalmines. These are key industries and the very life and existence of the country depends on safe arid rare transportation of her primary products. Thai such a deplorable state of affairs should be possible is a disrrace to any country and the Government must take a firm hand to deal in a common-sense and business-like manner with the paid agitators who have been stirring up industrial strife during the last few years. If continued it will bring about economic rain io the of the community. 7 '
