A MEAN THEFT.

TWO MONTHS' IMPRISONMENT.

FOR MAN WHO STOLE TOOLS,

Two charges—theft of a saw, valued at 7/6, and a saw and a steel float, worth 11/6 —were brought against Sftlney Reuben Ross Churches (27) in the Police Court this morning.

It was stated by Chief Detective Cummings that Churches had stolen the tools ,which were the property of his father's employer, and had endeavoured to dispose of them to a dealer. Accused had been convicted of theft on several occasions previously. He was a married man living apart from his wife.

Mr. Poynton said that the theft of tools was a mean class of theft. Accused was sentenced to one month's imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to be cumulative.
