NOTES AND COMMENTS. STORMONT MEMORIAL SHIELD. Despite the squally weather conditions and the muddy state of the ground, the match between Marist Old Boys and Ponsonby, played at Carlaw Park on Saturday, resulted in one of the best club contests witnessed on the park this season, and those League enthusiasts who were in attendance saw a really thrilling game particularly in the second half. The Stormont Memorial Shield was involved and by their defeat of Marist by 23 points to --, Ponsonby will be called upon to play > Ur i, or U next Saturday. This game should be even more interesting, and it Is bound to attract a great crowd. Again Delgrosso played wonderful football, and was always on hand to set the backs off £l P^ SBln c of the Ponsonby baekg was without a flaw, and if they play as well next Saturday, City will have to extend £*■££& ™ JgSg n«| c » or war division.
