WAR IN MOROCCO.
HUGE FRENCH ARMIES. TO SMASH REBEL TRIBES. ALLIES' HOPES OF VICTORY. (Bj- Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, September 21. The war correspondent of the "Echo de Paris" in Morocco states that SO battalions will shortly participate in a big new French offensive on the Kiffane sector, north of Taza, the success of which will result in the submission of some of the wavering tribes and a considerable portion of the enemj' zone separating Kiffane from the Spanish post of Azibdemidor, in the Mellilla sector. A Madrid message says that a communique reports that the enemy's gunfire in the Alhucemas sector is intensified. Everthing is quiet in the Ceuta Tetuan sector.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) ABD-EL-KRIM WOUNDED. ALLIES GAIN GROUND. PARIS, September 21. Considerable geographical importance is attached to the capture of Zawia and Ouledghazzar, in the Moroccan campaign, as these positions afford a wide field for an advance northward. Tho operation was carried out by three columns which set out at eight in tho morning and completed the aim at midnight. The rebels were strongly entrenched, but retreated pursued by cavalry. It is anticipated the victory will lead to the early submission of a number of tribes, who awaited the arrival of the French troops for an opportunity to withdraw from the fighting. A Madrid message says a Spanish newspaper reports that Abd-el-Krim was seriously wounded in the left leg during the fighting at Bibane. He is lying in a fever nt Tanguiz, attended by two German surgeons, members of his general staff.— (Reuter.) An unconfirmed report from Rabat , states that an emissary from Abd-el-i Krim has proposed peace on the basis of Spain's original offer. — ("Sun.")
