■ a THE OTAKI MEETING. MERRY DAT WINS STAKES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) OTAKI, Monday. The later events of the Otaki Maori Racing Club's meeting to-day resulted as follow :— Memorial Stakes. —Merry Day 1, Para 2. Nukumai 3. Scratched : Clarlnda and Crossfire. From the start Megan began the pace, but a furlong from home Merry Day came through and won by half a length. A length separated second and third. Time, 2.4 2-."i. Pukekaraka Hack Handicap.—Hymestrasen 1, Miss Hupana 2, Lucernal 3. All started. The two first horses led throughout. A length separated them at tha finish. Miss Odille was badly left at the ••tart. Time. 1.23 2-ii. Rekerrki Handicap.—Lucius 1, Mireusonta 2, Euphonium 3. All started. A fine race; won by a neck. Time. 1.20 2-5. R.ihui Welter.—BlacS Rock 1, Closefire 2. Killnch 3. Scratched: Our Jack. A good race between the placed horses. Won by a neck, the same distance between second and third. Time. 1.36 3-o. Walrengamai Welter.—Degage 1, Crossfire 2. Zero Hour 3. Scratched : Lucius and Waimat.io. A fine race, with Degage and Crossfire fighting out the finish. Tinoharl was fourth. Time, l.Sii 3-o. The totalisator figures for to-day were £18.422. making a total of £36.893 10' for the meeting, an increase of t1951 on , last \ car. ====■
