RUM-RUNNER IN DISTRESS.
NO MONEY TO PAY WAGES. STEAMER PUTS INTO DOVER. (Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, September 10. The five-masted auxiliary steamer General Serrett, with a crew of 31, commanded by Captain Whitburn and owned by an Argentine woman, with a cargo of 10,000 cases of whisky destined for "bootlegging" in America, put into Dover to repair the engines. Captain Whitburn says that he is unable to leave owing to lack of funds to buy coal and pay wages, which are considerably in arrears. — ("Sun.")
