SUCCESSFUL BALL.
GRAMMAR SCHOOLS' FUNCTION. The reputation of former years was upheld last evening at the annual ball of the Auckland Grammar Schools' Old Girls' and Old Boys' Associations. The function was held in the Grammar School in Mountain Road, and was a great success in every way. About 400 guests were present. The assembly hall was decorated with streamers of gold and blue (the school colours), while clusters of balloons and palms added to the effect. The dais was converted into a lounge, and here palms, ferns and daffodils added their share to the gay scheme. The classrooms were used as supper rooms and were also prettily decorated. Kingsland's band provided admirable music. The officials for the ball this year were Messrs. W. J. Somervell (secretary), V. R. Meredith (chairman of the committee), and Mr. G. Wallace (treasurer).
