CHRISTIAN CONGREGATIONS.

COUNCIL'S ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Council of Christian Congregations was held Sat evening, Dr. C. H. Laws presiding. The report was presented and adopted. It took the form of a review of the council's work throughout the year, which included activities in connection with the Bible in schools proposal, sex hygiene education, gambling, picture hoardings, and the nuisance of tram and motor noises during divine service. A credit balance of £SO was revealed in the balance-sheet, presented by Mr. C. Hudson. The treasurer remarked on the fact that some of the affiliated churches had not paid their subscriptions. For the first year the council received £45. This fell away to £26 during the second year, while only £l7 13/ was received for the third year, and £25 for the fourth year. Though the council had a little money in hand it was to be hoped that all the churches would pay their subscriptions. Others commented on the fact that interest in meetings appeared to wax and wane according to the nature of the topic to be discussed. Officers for the year were elected as follows:—President, Rev. H. Ranston. MX, Litt. D.; vice-presidents, Archbishop Averill, Rev. D. C. Herron, M.A., and Mr. H. Dearsley; treasurer, Mr. Charles Hudson: secretaries, Messrs. H. Held and C. H. Furness; executive, Revs., Canon Young, E. Drake, C. J. Tocker. Stanley Morrison, R. C. Cruiekehank, and R. J. Stanton, Messrs. G. Brovrnlee, A. J. Lee, L. Brook, F. X. Andrews. H. J. Edmiston, J. P.
