Bruce (Prime Minister) stated, in response to the cabled request from British shipowners and the president of the Seamen's L'nion of Britain for protection of men who desire to carry out agreed-upon contracts, that he had communicated with the Premiers of all States asking that such protection should be given. It was unthinkable, said Mr. Bruce, that we could ever admit the principle that Australians had a right to dictate what should lie the wages and conditions existing in any industry in Britain.
