SENSATION AT PAPAKURA.
A MAN ARRESTED. ALLEGED THREAT TO WIFE. An exciting incident which occurred in Papakura on Saturday evening led to a man named Hugh Campbell Kirk being injured. The Pukekohe police received a telephone message on Saturday evening about 7 p.m. from Papakura to tha effect that Kirk had been threatening to shoot his wife. It is staled that she took refuge in a house on the opposite side of the road and was followed there by her husband. A struggle is reported to have followed tat ween Kirk and a Mr. Patterson, who sought to protect Mrs. Kirk. Several of the "neighbour- came to Mr. Patterson's assistance, and tied Kirk up with ropes, finally knocking him out. Constable (TDonnell was dispatched to the scene l.y motor, and found Kirk tied up in Mr. Patterson's house. During the light Mr. Patterson was hurt about the face. Kink was taken to the Pukekohe Police Station, and on being examined by Dr. Wake was found to have an injured eye and lumps on his head. He was removed to the Auckland Hospital, and Dr. Webster expressed the opinion that his eye may have to be removed. He was remanded to appear at the Papakura Court next Monday.
