Young Blake was much better supported than Napland, while Waikaha and Wimmera King were most sought after of the others. Wimmera King, Al Mack, Waikaha and Young Blake were the most prominent when the. field had fairly got on its way. By the time the stewards' stand was leached Kostrevor had joined Waikaha and Wimmera King, and the trio was followed by Young Blake, King Capitalist and Koi Alto. Percy Dillon was about £125 better backed than the bracked Prince Lyons and Nelson MeCormaek for the Fleet Handicap, while Daphne Wildwood and Anoziram were best fancied of the ethers. Woodvale was prominent at the start, but Anoziram had run to the front from Haricot when they passed the stewards' stand, and the pair showed the way out of the straight to Percy Dillon, Profiteer, Native Prince, Hughie Wallace and Daphne Wildwood. Anoziram held his position along the back, from Haricot, Profiteer, Percy Dillon, Daphne Wildwood, Hughio Wallace and Kative Prince. Anoziram led across the top and into the straight, from Hughie 'Wallace, Ruby Huon and Daphne Wildwood, and a good race saw Hughie Wallace get the decision by a neck from Daphne Wildwood, which beat Anoziram by a similar distance.
