RUNAWAY AT HUNT.
HORSE OUT OF CONTROL, j COLLIDES WITH AXOTHEE. "$ There ■was a sensational incident at East Tamaki on Saturday afternoon, during the Pakuranga Hunt Club's meet, as a result of which the well-known horse, Dandy, had to be shot. While the hunt was at its height, a horse, ridden by Miss WrightSOß, bolted. It galloped madly towards a 'barbedwire fence, but some men, realising what was happening, managed to frighten the animal away. It galloped on after the riders, narrowly missed Mr. Bullock Webster, master of the liounds, and collided violently with Dandy, which vat ridden by Mr. A. G. Qnartley. Dandy was hit behind the saddle and turned j completely round. Mr. Quartley was thrown into the air and fell heavily ! some yards away, while Miss Wrightson was also thrown heavily. Both riders suffered from shock, but were not seriously injured. Dandy had his thigh-bone broken In I three places. He was shot immediately afterwards. According to witnesses of the accident, the animal ridden by Miss Wrightson was unmanageable all the time. Miss Wrightson could not hold it. The day's .sport was somewhat marred by the accident. Dandy was a valuable horse and a familiar follower of the hounds.
