H.Z. LEAGUE TOURISTS.
A HARD GAME. COMPLAINTS OF REFEREE. SYDNEY, August 20. The New Zealand League team played the Cootamundra match after travelling all night (253 miles). Then they had another all-night journey, returning to Sydney this morning. The match was strenuous throughout, the visitors being in the lead till just before the last whistle, when a free-kick put the local team one point ahead. The half-time ecore was: New Zealand 15, Cootamundra 10. It had previously been: New Zealand 15, Cootamundra 2. Free-kicks were a feature of the game. Twenty-eight were awarded the local team, against three for New Zealand. The try-getters were: Kirwan (2), Brown, Webb, Ellis (1 each). Mouatt converted all. The Cootamundra score consisted of four tries, seven goals. The visitors express strong dissatisfaction with the referee's rulings.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
