BANKRUPTCIES.
SEVEN" MONTHS' FIGURES. The number of bankruptcies registered in New Zealand last month was 81 as compared with 03 in July of last year, 57 in July, 1923, and 74 in July, 1922. The figures for last month were the highest for many months; in fact, we have to go back to August, 1922, when there were 83 bankruptcies. The figures for each of the past seven months compared -with those for 1924 and 1923 show as follow:—
For the seven months there is an increase of 14 as compared with last year, and an increase of 12 compared with 1923. For the seven months of 1922 the number of bankruptcies was 407, or three more than is recorded this year. Farmers accounted for 23 of the 81 bankruptcies recorded last month, and labourers for 11.
