MANUREWA TOWN BOARD.

The members present at the meeting ot the Town Board were the chairman (Mr. A. C. Sexton), and Messrs. McCallum, Gallaher, Cox, Whytc, Butterwortli and the clerk (Mr. H. Kay). School Crossings—The school committee requested that the board's attention be diawn to the small crossing, at the northern end of the school grounds, and also. asked for metal lor the tootpath in Tiew or caning material. over it lor the additional build.ng. This request was granted.

Ilornai Estate Koad. —Mr. Mart again asked th.it the board consider terms for dedicating the balance of his road. The matter was ndjonrued to the next meeting pending a report irom the engineer as to formation and drainage. Blind Institute. —An appeal was received for a contribution by the board. Repair Metal.—After some discussion it was decided to order from the gaol six trucks of 1 i-inch metal lor Manrewa and one truck for Hon.ai.

t'ortins Timber.—A reply came to hand from Mr. W. Moody slating that he inferred from a recent meeting that if Mr. Mearns offered to pay 2d per 100 ft carting could be continued. The clerk was instructed to inform Mr. Moody that this was wrong; the carting could go on if the loads were made to suit the weather conditions. The board did not wish to interfere in the carting of manures and produce.

Berkeley Park Estate Roads.—Mr. Gallaher reported that the owner (Mr. 6. Smith) proposed to plant Oriental Planes 17 yards apart, asking that the board pay half the cost of the trees and provide a man to assist with the work of planting. It was acrecd that under the present roadinc conditions the owner finds the trees and plants them, but as Mr. Smith is the first owner to plant trees the board will find him a man to assist with the planting. The board suggests that the trees be planted at the junctions of sections, but none to be planted less than 60ft from corners.

Taupo Water Scheme.—The Mount Eden Borough Council asked that authority M obtained to sign and seal an agreement in the matter of legislative authority for the constitution of the Auckland Provincial Water Board. It was resolved that the document be duly signed and sealed, with a proviso that such act does not commit the board to any further expense without the board's expressed sanction.

Highways Board.—lt was agreed that the board be asked, in the event of a local body deciding to go in for a concrete road, will the Highways Board give an opinion as to whether the proposed tar or bitumen sealing of the foundation course will be detrimental to the laying of the concrete, or will it require to be renewed.
