N.C.O.'s BALL.

HUGE CROWD AT TOWN HALL. Mid a blaze of colour, beautiful frocks, naval and military uniforms, and haunting music, the curtain was lifted on the ball tendered to the non-commissioned officers of the American Fleet, by the No. 1 Regimental District N.C.O.'s Club at the Town Hall last evening. The ball was an undoubted success, and the 1600 guests present were loud Jn their praise of the arrangements made, and the enjoyable time spent. Owing to the large number of.guests both the Town Hall and Concert Chahiber were in use.

The decorations were *such that they drew forth unstinted admiration. The main hall was a blaze of colour. From the ceiling were hanging baskets of fern, the sprays of which drooped gracefully to be entwined in garlands of rose wreaths attached to the galleries. There were festoons of fern and rose that showed up to advantage with the myriads of coloured lights that were tastefully attached to them. The stage was a veritable picture of beauty, Ijeing done in greenery with a background of running water, on which shone coloured lights. The supper room was a delight to the eye. The lights were covered with autumn tinted shades, and about the room were orange trees, and spreading nikau palms, which were set off by the same colour effects that were on the tables.

The programme consisted of the foxtrot, waltz, one-step, and tango fox-trot. The music could not have been bettered, and was supplied by the Band of the Auckland Artillery, the University orchestra, and Mrs. Lawjence's orchestra.
