SUPERSTITION AND SCIENCE.
"Superstition and Science" is the subject of an interesting lecture that will be delivered at the Leys Institute next Tuesday, by Professor F. P. Worley, as part* of the winter course. Professor Worley's lecture will be of a popular nature and will cover the Bubject widely, with special reference to some of its latest aspects. The professor will speak of the superstitions of ancient and primitive races and the survival of superstitious beliefs in civilised people, with some reference to ghosts, witchcraft and spiritualism. The power of superstition at the present time, especially in connection with the healing of diseases, will be explained; and mention will be made of the Abrams machine and its relation to accepted scientific knowledge. The audience will also be given a peep at the methods of scientific investigation; and the lecture will include a description of some of the marvellous achievements of science in recent times.
