"THE JELLICOE TOUCH."

TAKING A PHOTOGRAPH. % ii ADMIRAL ROBISON "SHOT AT. , ?^ A courteous little scene, TvitTi quite the "Jellicoe touch," happened on tha quarter-deck of the U.S. flagship California whilst a "Star" reporter was on board this morning. Unlike a British man-o'-war, it is fairly easy for photographers to go aboard the battleship and take practically any photographs they like. There are certain "fixings," of course, which are not allowed to be "shot," and after having been told by the officer of the watch what not to take the photographer , is practically allowed to wander at will over the various decks. It was the time for Admiral S. S. Robison to be "piped over the side" to retain one of his many official calls. Ona of the photographers asked the young officer of the watch if it was poseible to get a close-up snap of the Admiral- As a matter of. fact, Admiral Eobison does not like being photographed, especially at times of official functions and ceremonies. However, with a courteous, 'If yon will be good enough to wait a moment, just where you are, I'll be back in a moment." the young officer disappeared below. After a few minutes he came up smiling and eaid: "It will be quite all right. You can go ahead."' The first cameraman was quickly joined by the second one. and both waited with cameras set. Along camp the Admiral chatting with his start' officers and, sighting '.the cameramen in "line abreast.' , lie stopped dead, and smiling one of bis best smiles said. '"How will this suit;'" Click, went one camera, but the other failed. Noticing the second cameraman's dilemma immediately. Admiral Robison stopped in his stride and half turning to the disappointed one. said with that characteristic smile of liis, "Go on."' Click went the second camera. The bos'n's mate's whistle piped out its shrill note, the little squad <>f sailors sprang to attention, and the Admiral went "over the side" to hia waiting launch.
