OWNER'S HEAVY 1" (By Teio^raph.— iPresa Association.) TE &UITI, this day. About 7 o'clock last night & six-roomed house owned by Mr. A. G. Lavington at Waitete was totally destroyed by' fire. The owner was filling a lamp, when the oil caught fire, and the house was quickly a mass of flames, making it impossible to save anything. The contents were insured for £1000 and the house {or £800 in the New Zealand Company. Mr. and Mrs. Lavington are heavy losers, as they possessed valuable curios collected in all parts of the world which could not be replaced. The contents were worth £3000.
