SHEARERS' WAGES.

LARGE INCREASE WANTED. MELBOURNE, August 12. The Commonwealth Arbitration Court to-day commenced hearing applications for variations of the Pastoralists , Award. The case affects over 40,000 employees in all the States except Queensland. One application is made by the Australian Workers' Union. This is for increased wages for shearers and station hands. The union asking that the rates for flock sheep, wethers, ewes, and lambs shall be increased to £3 per 100 instead of the existing , rate of 3S/ per 100.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
