Ellisdon. The Auckland Harbour Board rep led to a request from the Council for the fee simple of an area in Shoal Bay required for rubbish dumping purposes, that It could not give the freehold but would permit rubbish to toe deposited there subject to the approval of the local health officer The council decided to postpone decision in the matter pending the consideration of the destructor f*r the four North Shore boroughs. i The Vauxhall Reserve Committee submitted a scheme for the improvement of their area, providing a pavilion and two hard tennis courts, towards which locnl subscriptions of l£loo were guaranteed. The Works Committee, however, submitted that the engineer's estimate for the work would be about £600, and could not recommend the finding of this sum from revenue during the current year. The suggestion was, however, ratified that the council should consider forming a municipal sports area for all classes of sport under tlif supervision of a caretaker. It was agreed to formulate a schecie to be considered with the forthcoming loan proposals. Requests from the Waitemata Chamber of Commerce and the. Devonport branch of the Labour party for more information with regard to the proposed Incorporation of the local electricity undertaking with the Waitemata Power Board were received. On the motion of Mr. Hendefcson, reply was made that adequate opportunity for public discussion would be afforded before the matter Was finally settled. The Auckland Provincial Water Board forwarded for signature the proposed deed of agreement for validating legislation. This, was referred to the Works Committee for consideration along with further details of a current scheme for augmenting the present water supply of the borough. The request from the North Shore BowIng Club that the present shed should not be disturbed was the subject of a recommendation from the Works Committee. This pointed out that the tenure of the club was at the will of the council and that the building in question would have to be removed when King Edward Parade was formed to its full width. Adequate notice of this action would, however, be given the club and a new location found for the building on gome other suitable waterfront site. Meantime the approach was to be improved. A request from the Blind Institute Building Committee was referred to the Finance Committee, and a donation of £5 made to the Workers' Educational Asso- . elation.
