SAILORS AND STAMPS.

KEEN PHILATELISTS. Like other folk, sailors have their hobbies, and philately appears to be among them. According to Mr. H. W. Hunt, of the Victoria Arcade, there is a very fair leavening of philatelists among the officers and men of the American Fleet, and stamp labels of New Zealand are already been keenly sought by many of these collecting enthusiasts. No doubt a considerable proportion of this interest is prompted by the desire of relatives and friends across the Pacific to add to their collections stamps of the various places the fleet touches, but the keenness and knowledge about issues, watermarks, and other little distinctions that are peculiar to this hobby, show that the interest is in many cases a personal one. It is evident therefore, that even our stampe will occupy some place in the minds of our visitors, when they return home to U.S.A., to keep green tho memories of their sojourn in this outpost dominion of the British Empire.
