MINING NEWS.

■ « MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Ohlnemuri. —The mine manager reports that the south drive on the Camoola hangingwall has been extended 26 feet, making a total of 1470 feet from the Silverstreara crosscut. A further distance of about 40 feet will reach a point coresponding with the north face on the Camoola reef at No. 2 level, 200 feet overhead. Progress is being retarded to some extent by the presence of quartz veins in the , hangingwall country. The drive is being- kept on the extreme liangliigwall away from the lode in order to ensure better progress. What little quartz that has been exposed is distinctly favourable, being sulphide willi the right class of mineral. The Majestic.—The mine manager reports that during the fortnight ended the Bth instant the contractors extended the north face on the Maratoto reef 30 feet, making a total of 185 feet from the main crosscut. The last round of holes taken out shows about two-third footwall and the remainder reef. About 20 feet back from the present face a cut was put across the reef to ascertain its width,- which is eight feet of solid quartz with two feet six inches additional containing a mixture of country and quartz. Water is issuing from the reef, Small rugs nnd veins of sulphide arc scattered through the quartz at the end of the crosscut, but there is no defined hangingwall. The crossriut is heinir continued through the quartz showing. In the south section .'JO feet was driven, making a. total distance of 800 feet from the main crosscut. There is nothing to add to my last report, oxoept that the ground has become harder and more bloefey, but it shoots well.
