RELIGIOUS EXERCISES IN SCHOOLS.

Reference was made at the meeting of the Auckland Presbytery to Mr. L \I laitfa bill for religious exercises in schools. The clerk, Rev. D. D. Scott, said he had received replies from several members of • Tarliamertt. Mr. E. D McLennan (Franklin) wrote that he sincerely hoped the measure would be placed upon the statute book, and would give the bill his support. Sir James larr (Eden) wrote that- as was the case last year, he proposed to cast his vote for the measure. The Hon. Gordon Coates, Prime Minister wrote that he would give the bill his careful consideration when it came before Parliament Rev. J. C.
