What amounts to almost a new award for the Brick, Tile and Pottery Workers in the northern industrial district has been made by the Arbitration Court, In the new award the week's work is to consist of 48 hours, except in the case of burners who may be required to work shifts not exceeding 12 hours while the burning is going on, but employers and employees can arrange the hours so that a Saturday halt-holiday may be kept. The rates of pay are fixed as follows , . Flangers and mouldere, 2/1 per hour; stickers and finishing burners, 2/; setters and drawers, 1/10; burners, 1/8$; all other workers, 1/9. Workers under and up to 20 years of age: 16 to 17 years. 17/0: 17 to 18. £1 12/G; 18 to 19, £1 17/6; 19 to 20. £2 10/; over 20, the minimum wage. Overtime is to' be paid for at the rate of time and a-half for the first four hours and double time thereafter. The reeo<rnised holidays aye set out a3 follows: Christmas Day. Boxing Day.
