APPRENTICES AND COLLEGE
LEVY ON EMPLOYERS.
Judgment has been given by the Arbitration Court on a petition by employers in the motor engineering business, praying that all employers of apprentices in the industry within a radius of 12 miles of the Seddon Memorial Technical College be ordered to contribute to the cost of providing plant and equipment for the training of apprentices as motor mechanics at a portion of the college. In the judgment the Court states that it is satisfied that the petition is signed by a majority of the employers in the industry, and it make 3an order that such employers shall pay to the District Registrar o* Apprentices, on behalf of the college, the sum of 10/ for each apprentice employed who has attended or shall attend the classes at the college between this and December 31, 1925, and a similar cum in 1026. The money becomes payable on August 1 this year with respect to apprentices who attend the college prior to July 31, and in other cases within 14 days froa the day on which the apprentices start to attend the college.
