CHILD ENDOWMENT.
THE QUEENSLAND SCHEME. (Received 10.30 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. The child endowment scheme adopted by the Government will cost £2,250.000 yearly, which will be found by a 5 per cent tax on the wages sheet of every employer. The endowment will not be paid for the first child, but for the second 'and each subsequent child 5/ weekly will be paid until the child reaches the age of 14. Only workers receiving not more than £400 yearly will participate.— (A. and N.Z. Cable!)
