BANK MANAGER SHOT.
ROBBER ESCAPES WITH LOOT.

PERTH, this day.
An armed robber near Manjiihup held /up the manager and the accountant of the National Bank, who were taking £1985 to the timber mills at Pembertori to pay the employees. The two officials resisted, and the bandit, after having shot the manager (Mr. Barber) in one hand, eeized the money and escaped on horseback into the bush. Search has been made, but so far without result. Mr. Barber and his accountant (Leeman) AVcre proceeding to Pemberton on a railway tricycle driven by an employee. The robbery occurred in a cutting, where a log had 'been placed across the line, and caused them to stop. They were ordered to put up their hands. Barber was attempting to draw a. revolver when he was shot in the hand by the robber, his injury necessitating the amputation of one finger. The robber, covering the party with an automatic, secured their revolvers and a bag of money. He then ordered the trio to march in front of him. After they had marched some distance he slipped into the hush and disappeared. Always previously a policeman had accompanied the cotapany's officials when conveying money to Pemberton.— (A. and N. 2.
