HEAVY TRAFFIC FEES. I ". The Auckland City Council met last evening, the Deputy Mayor, Mr. .T. A. Warnock. presiding in the absence of the Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon. Heavy Traffic Fees. —The Auckland Suburban Local Bodies Association wrote asking the council to convene a conference of all local bodies in the heavy traffic licensing area, to discuss the whole question of heavy traffic license fees. It was decided that the council was not concerned, as tho scale of fees arranged by the Government "will operate after December 31. Road Maintenance. —A letter from the Now Lvnn Town Board, contending that some assistance should be granted towards tincost of maintenance of Portage Road during the construction of the main highway through the Avoiidaie Borough wad "received." Breakwater Road.—Reporting on a request from the Chamber of Commerce rhat Breakwater Road should be put in order, the city engineer said that while repairs were constantly being made to the road, he feared it would not ht- possible to put the road down in permanent material until the closing of the railway tracks enabled the road to be formed and paved to its full width of 100 feet throughout.— The engineer was instructed to give the read maintenance. Tennis Courts.—lf was decided to offer the West Lynn Householders' Association a subsidy of £' for £1 up to £50 for the laying out of te nis courts in the Western Springs Reserve. Referred Back.—The recommendation of the Parks Committee was that the council declined to contribute towards the cost of building a wharf at Cornwallis. Manukan Harbour. Or the motion of Mr. Bloodworrh it was decided ro refer the matter back To the committee to consider whether provision should be made for the contribution on next year's estimates. Young Australian League.—The Rotary Club advised that it was not possible for the Club to co-operate to any extent in connection with the visit of the Young Australian League. It was poir.ted out that the visit would be close ou the Christmas holidays, and the suggestion was made that the I'onsonby Boys' Brass Baud might provide billets in their homes for the visitors. Tenders. —The tender of A. S. Paterson and Company, Limited, to supply rmature oil at 2/2 per gallon was accepted. Filtration Plant Teuders. —It was decided to postpone the receipt of teuders for iiltratien plant till January nerzt.
