This yea.r a number of naval competitors made a good showing in the senior cadet classes, and several of them got through to win championships. The management throughout was snappy, and while the events were kept on the run there was no neglect of the interests of the boys engaged, while Mr. T. Sampson, as referee, allowed pood judgment in intervening whenever one of the ' opponents happened to be outclassed and thus avoided competitors -receiving unnecessary punishment. The receipts for the three nights of the tourney amounted co £160. Colonel H. R. Potter took occasion to > thank the patrons for their regular attendance, and Mr. Sampson for his work as ' referee, and also as adviser to the boys. He also made mention of several donors of ' prizes, including Mr. A. Bayliss, who had given a medal to be awarded to the most scientific boxer.
