■ ZANOL CUP MATCH. AUCKLAND V. CANTERBURY. Auckland will defend the Zanol Cup for the second time this year, against Christcvhurch junior representatives to-morrow. Earlier in the season Auckland successfully defended the Cup against Wellington, and the selector has decided to place the same team in the field for the match aganist Christchurch. WHANGAREI V. TAIHAPE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TAUMARUNUI, Thursday. In the representative hockey match yesterday, the Whatifcarei ladies' touring team drew with Taihape. one all. U. Woods shot ft goal for Whangarei and J. Gamby scored for Taihape. Id a curtain raiser. Tanmarunui defeated Kakahi by four goals to three.
NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL.
NEW ZEALAND V.jAUCKLAXD. The council of the New Zealand Rugby tcatrue met last evening, Mr. J. Carla\v presiding. A cable was read from Mr. N. Culpan, one of the managers now in Australia with the New Zealand team. The cable stated that several of the players were knocked out. and it would be difficult to field a strong side against -Queensland to-morrow. The council decided that on the return of the New Zealand team they play a match with an Auckland thirteen at Carlaw Park on August 28. The Northern Union Cop challence m&ten i between Auckland and South Auckland was j fixed for Wednesday, August 19.
