A DEFINITE DECISION.

AUCKLAND RUGBY LEAGUE. ! REGISTERED SOCIETY. PROPOSED NEW STAND. The proposal to have the Auckland Rugby League registered as an incorporated body was the subject of a report submitted by the special committee set up by the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby League. For some time there has beet, a feeling amongst prominent members of the League that the time had arrived when the code should be controlled by the League itself and not by either trustees, guarantors, or any bank, and en occasions when resolutions passed by the Management Committee have been vetoed by the guarantors or bank, some very severe comment has been passed by the clubs' delegates, who comprise the Management Committae. A week ago Mr. J. V. Mansill, the Xewton Club's delegate on the committee, brought up at the weekly meeting the proposal that the Auckland Rugby League should be registered as an incorporated society, and so rid itself of the possibility of having vetoed any movements decided upon, and which it was considered necessary and desirable in the interests of the code. The proposal gave rise to considerable discussion, and eventually a resolution was passed in favour of the League being registered as an incorporated society, and a special committee was appointed to discuss ways and means of raising, as it is proposed, £10.000 by the issue of debentures. The report of this committee presented at the meeting of the Management Committee last evening, stated that it had been definitely decided to raise £10,000 on debentures, at seven per cent, redeemable within 10 years, and the League's solicitor was instructed to prepare the necessary documents to have the League registered as an incorporated society. The opinion was expressed with confidence that the amount sought would be forthcoming as the result of a campaign, which would be launched at the end of next week. Should the movement he the success expected, it is proposed, immediately the present season closes, to begin work upon the erection of a concrete stand at Carlaw Park, with seating accommodation for 2000." The estimated cost is in the vicinity of £10,000, and the building will have dressing rooms, with hot and cold showers, and a suite of offices, which will allow the League to make Carlaw Park its headquarters, and there transact all business. The building, if started, will be ready for next season. The profit shown at the end of last season by the Auckland League was £1233, but to date the present season's returns exceed those of 1924 for a corresponding period.
