Mr. C. A. Whitney was a passenger south by the express last night.
Mr. C. J. Tunks left by the express last evening for Wellington.
Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Jackson are staying at the Grand Hotel.
Mr. Andrew Menzies has returned from a visit to Sydney, He came back via Wellington.
The Hon. G. J. Garland, M.L.C., arrived from Wellington • this morning and will remain here a few days.
Dr. Frank Hay, Inspector General of the Mental Hospitals, has left England with his wife, for New Zealand.
Mr. C. T. Philips, of the Invercargill Railway Parcels Office, has been transferred to Frankton Junction.
Mr. George Baildon, Mayor of Auckland, left last night with Sir James Gunson. for a brief rest in the country.
The Rev. Dr. H. Ranston was a passenger for Wellington by the express last evening. «
Mr. T. D. Kendall, Inspector of the Public Trust Office, Christchurch, has retired on superannuation, after 38 years' service.
Sir Thomas Mackenzie, after having spent a week with his son-in-law at Suva, is expected to return from Fiji by the Aorangi, due here on August 10.
Mr. L. H. Stott, of the postal staff, at Tauranga, has been promoted to Taupo, and assumes his duties there next week.
Mr. Roland Foster, of the Sydney Conservatonum of Music, arrived by the Maunganui at Wellington to adjudicate at the competitions in that city, and also at Invercargill.
Messrs. George Andrews, of Hokianga. C. Hodson, of Hamilton, F. Kelly, R. Plummer, and H. Large, of G. Clark and H. T. Barns, or Scotland, are guests at the Star Hotel,
Mr. N. Pellak, prior to leaving Dunedin for Auckland, was the recipient of a presentation from the staff of Reid and Gray, Ltd.
