BETTER PRICES FOB WAR - LOANS. I BANK SHARES SELL WELL. . A fair amount of business was transacted j on 'Change this week, the business being I' distributed over a number of different lines. War Loans are a little llrmer, the buying offers Tor several lines having increased by 2/6 to 5/. Soldiers' Loans Had several sales, first at £100 15/, and arterwards at £101. The 4+ per cent War Loans, 1930 and 1938. are now wanted at £97, with 5/ less offered for inscribed 1938-39 loans. The 5 per cent loan, 1927, could be placed at £98 10/, and the 1929 ror £97 17/6, an adyance or 5/ in the latter line. Auckland Gas 64 per cent debentures are wanted at £100 and the Government 6 per cent loan have inquiry at £104, but sellers ask an extra £2. Milne and Choyce debentures are offered at £97, but buyers will not advance above £94. Shares in Banking Corporations met with good demand. Commercial Bank ordinary issue firmed a little, sales toeing- made up to 31/3, at which price more could be placed. National Banks sold at £6 13/6, and New Zealand from 54/9 to 55/9. Bank of New South Wales shares could be got ror £41 7/6, but buyers quote five shillings under that figure. Prior to the payment or the dividend by the Union Bank or Australia, shares sold at £14 19/, ex div., buyers now offer £14 11/. Colonial Sugar Refining Company shares registered another advance in price this week, a sale being 1 made at £53. As more were offered at the same figure the buying quotations dropped to £52 10/. Sanrora, Ltd. shares sold at 20/6 for ordinary, and 21 / ror preference issue, and Wilsons Cement had further transactions at 33/, with rurther buyers at that figure, and no sellers under 34/. Taranaki Oil sold at 20/, and Union Oil and Candle shares at 37/6. Sales were recorded ot Kawarau shares at 15/, arter which another threepence was offered. New Zealand Breweries debenture stock improved in price, sales being recorded up to 23/ since last report. Transactions also took place in Wiseman, Ltd. at 10/, and Dominion Pictures at 19/. Kauri Timber shares moved upwards this week, being sold, aud still wanted at 33/, as against 32/6 earlier on. Rotoiti Timber on the other hand are now offered at 23/. Watlii shares are a shade easier, transactions taking place at 25/6, and later at threepence under that llgureA number or transactions took place in New Zealand Insurance shares at from 34/9 to 35/, and Soutb British, alter selling at 49/6, again changed hands at 50/, at the third call yesterday arternoon. Standard Insurance are in steady demand at 45/, without any quoted seller. Auckland Gas shares sold, ex riv., at 22/6, and Taupiri Coal were placed, at 17/6 yesterday. Westport Coal had sales ai 32/6, and ror Northern Steam, contributing, 7/5 was paid, while 15/7 is offered ror the paid up issue. Huddart-Parker Steam could.stlll bo placed at 44/9, and buyers came in for P. and O. deferred stock, at £260.
