UNEMPLOYMENT.
MATTER OF LOCAL LOANS. !
(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Judging by a question of which notice was given in the House of Representatives by Mr. Veitch (Wanganui) this afternoon, there is need in the country districts for providing work for unemployed.
Mr. Veitch's question will urge the Prime Minister to introduce legislation renewing the statutory authority to enable local bodies to raise loans for the relief of unemployment, which authority, the member pointed out, lapsed two years ago.
