FLEET WEEK.
DEMAND FOR ACCOMMODATION
BOOKINGS FAIRLY HEAVY.
In less than a fortnight —to be exact, in eleven days' time —the American FleCt Will arrive in Auckland, and signs are not wanting that the visit of the Americans is creating interest not only in the city and suburban areas, but also in the country districts.
With the population of Auckland growing substantially almost daily, there is never any pronounced oversupply of accommodation, and this is considerably emphasised on special occasiond. The visit of the American Fleet is such an occasion, and inquiries made show that. the demand for accommodation has already been so heavy that in many instances hotels and prominent city boardinghouses announce full bookings.
Others, again, while having good bookings, can accommodate a few mora, but with the majority of hotels, both public and private, and the larger boardinghouses, there is every indication that what little accommodation is still available will be taken up during the next week. A large number of country bookings are recorded, and there will be visitors from all parts of the province to Auckland during Fleet Week.
