DISTRIBUTION OF TROUT.
THE ROTORUA HATCJBERIES.

In the course of an interview between Mr. F. Moorhouse, conservator of inland fisheries, and a representative of the "Rotorua Chronicle" the former stated that great difficulty had been experienced all over the Dominion this year in collecting trout ova owing to abnormal floods. He mentioned that there was a splendid supply of fish in Green Lake, Tarawera, which was one of the chief sources of stripping and collecting ova for distribution far and wide. The following lists indicate how dependent other parts o! the Dominion and the Commonwealth are upon Rotorua for stocking and restocking streams:—Ova forwarded to Kapler Society, 350,000; Sydney State fisheries, 450,000; Masterton fish hatchery, 160,000; New Plymouth Bociety, 150,000; Chriitchurch Society, 50,000. Orders not yet fulfilled: Waikaremoana, 100,000; Gisborne, 50,000; Mercury Bay, 10,000. The following orders were received for fry: Auckland Bociety, 750,000; Tongariro NAtfanal Park rivers, 200,000; Pouto Point Bird Society, 100,000; Tauranga, 5000; Tourist Department, 150,000. Lakes Rotorua and Taupo will be restocked with 250,000 ova, to be received from Lake Hawea, in the South Island.
