At a meeting of the Now Zealand Council presided over by the president, Mr. .T. Carlaw, last evening, a handsome shield was donated by Mr. John Stormont for edmpetltion among senior clubs ln the Dominion, the shield to be known as the "William Stormont Memorial Shield." Conditions for the conduction of the competition for the shield will be drawn up by a special committee appointed last evening. Touching the expected visit of a Queensland team to New Zealand this season, the president said that no definite information had been received from Quensland. In the I event of the visit not being made it was i suggested the council should arrange exhibition matches between the North and South Island teams. It%as also decided that the New Zealand team now in Australia should, on their return, play a match against Auckland. ■
