I Professor J. S. Hughes, of the Kansas '(State Agricultural College, has shown j that violet ray treatments cause i chickens to mature earlier and also I make hens lay oftener. ! A man who earns £5 per week : appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., 1 to-day at the Magistrate's Court to j explain why he had not paid his rent. It j was explained that the house was j owned by a working man who had a job in the country. It was further explained that the owner of the house had to keep up payments on the house at the rate of 20/ per week. An order for payment was made at the rate of 5/ per week.
