FATALITY AT KAWAU.
DEATH OF COLOKEL O'NErLL. Information -was received by wireless from Kanau Island of the death or Colonel W. H. O'Neill, of Auckland. Full details are not available, but it is understood that death was due to an accident. Colonel O'Neill and his wife had been staying at the Mansion House, Kawau. for the past few months. The body was brought to Auckland in a launch for the purpose of the inquest, which will be held by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., coroner.
Colonel O'Neill is a native of Auckland, being the fourth son of the late Hon. .James O'Neill, who was a member of the Auckland Provincial Council in the early days, and later sat for Auckland city as a member of the Parliament of New Zealand in 1854-55, again as member for Auckland, Northern Division, from IRfil to 1808. Deceased was a retired Imperial Army officer, and had seen active service in India and Nigeria. When the Creat War out in 10U Colonel O'Neill offered himself to the military authorities, and -,vas accepted for homo service. In ri'cpnt years lie resided at Tauranza and Devonport. '
