NO SECRET MEETING.
DAIRY CANDIDATE'S DENIAL,
LIVELY MEETING AT MORKINSYILLE.
(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") HAMILTON, this day. There was a lively meeting at Morrinsville un Saturday night when Mr. Hogg, chairman ot the Opotiki Dairy Company, who is a candidate for the control hoard, addressed a meeting of dairy {armors. Interruptions were frequent, and when the question time came the speaker met with a perfect deluge. One question hurled at him hy Mr. YV. Boyd asked if it was a fact that he intended a secret meeting in the Waikato Hotel on Wednesday night. The chairman intervened and appealed for fair questions. The question was , repeated. .Mr. Hogg (heatedly): 1 attended no secret meeting. Questioner: Did you attend any meet, ing in the Waikato Hotel that night? Mr. Hogg: There was no meeting in the Waikato Hotel. 1 sat and smoked my pipe and had a glass of whisky in oiie of the lounges. 1 think it is an insult to ask a man such questions. A voice: The shoe pinches. .Mr. Seifert (chairman) declared that he must insist on confining questions to the business under consideration. Mr. Hogg: I might say that I attended no secret meeting at any hotel. Mr. Boyd: At any rate you were at "a meeting? Mr. Hogg: T will admit nothing. We were planning a campaign, if you wish to know. It was not a "secret" meeting however, ns we had nothing to hide. Mr. Boyd: We have had a full report of the whole proceedings placed in our hands. Mr. Hogg: Then it wns not a secret? Mr. Bovd: Your whole scheme was to wreck control, anil the first step you were to tnke to elTect this wns to remove Mr. Goodfellow by fair means or foul. The chairman: T must make it clear that T am not going to permit a hoydo Mr. Hogg): is that correct? The chairman: Can that statement he sustained? Mr. Bovd: It can. Mr. Jliigg: 1 say it's untrue. You must have got that from some of your hangers on. Mr. Boyd: Your own friends gave you away. ' A voice: T think Mr. Hogg should answer questions frankly and not shuffle. Mr. Hogg (angrily): T did not know you had so many pimps about. Several voices called for withdrawal. Mr. Boyd (heatedly?: 1 will not allow Mr. Hogg to make observation* of what nature. Mr. Hogg: Tt is quite evident you must have had pimps there. MY. Boyd (raising his voice): lour own friends gave you away: you don't like it. do you? This matter then dropped and the meeting broke up in some confusion. When a motion was put favouring control voting was about even.
