SUBSTANTIAL INCREASES.
Following Is a comparison of the aggregates of the different divisions of imports for tho four months of the last three years:—
Total Goods 17,250,817 14.024.00S 14,304,292 The volume of our imports is maintaining a high level, though April is a shade less than March. For tho four months there is an increase of £2,364,909 or 16 per cent. Tho principal increases contributing to this growth aro motor vehicles £434,000, petrol £193,000, rubber tyres £214,000, timber £126,000, manures £103,000, tea £110,000, galvanised iron £123,000, cotton piece goods £120,000 .(Mercantile Gazette.)
