REMUERA ROAD FATALITY.
■WOMAN THROWN FROM CYCLE. DRIVEN BY HER HUSBAND. A distressing accident occurred on the Remuera Road at midday yesterday, when Mrs. Emily Frederica Doherty was thrown from 'her husband's motor cvclc side-car, sustaining injuries from which she died on the way to the hospital. An inquest was opened this morning before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., when James Doherty, the husband, gave particulars of the casualty. He stated that he was a gardener residing nt 0, Burgoyne Street, Xcwton. While riding along Remuera Road yesterday near Ridings Road, at a moderate pace of not more than 15 miles an hour, tbe cycle skidded from under him. He was between the tram lilies nnd tbe left hand kerb. He shouted to his wife to lean over when the cycle struck the tramway pole. His wife was thrown out of the side-car. and struck ber head on (fhc concrete. She had been holding up an umbrella. The road was very wet and greasy. Witness had lwcn driving a motor cycle for about ton years. After the accident Dr. E. D. Anbin wns summoned and be started to take the injured woman to the hospital, but she expired before the institution was readied. The inquest was adjourned.
