CRASH INTO A SHOP.
VALUABLE MOTOR CAR,
VEHICLE BADLY DAMAGED. TWO MEN ARRESTED. As a result, of a sensational incident nt Devonport on Saturday evening. When n (nililiac motor car, valued at LsilO, and owned by Mrs. .1. 11. A'Dcane, of Hawke's Bay, crashed int., a shop window, the two occupants of the car are now in custody on a charge of having unlawfully converted the motor vehicle to their own use. .Mrs. A'Deano left ber seven-sealer car outside the Ksplanade Hotel where she is staying. While she was having dinner, two men. it is alleged, entered the ear anil drove oil". Apparently the driver was not an experienced motorist, for the car had only proceeded n short distance when it swerved into tlie footpath, carrying away the verandah posts and crashing through tlie plate glass window of Messrs. McGregor and Montgomery, bakers and pastrycooks. One of tlie men. who was cut slightly about the face by the glass, was arrested while attempting to escape, 'the other man got away, but a second arrest was made at midnight. Two men, one aged 2TI and the other 35, appeared at the Police Court this morning. Mr. J. .1. Sullivan appeared for the older man, nnd Ml". Bryec Hart for Ihe younger of ihe accused. Counsel's application for suppression of tho names was granted by the magistrate.
