Grossmith j and Malone, Ltd. I Mr. Kliubert proposes to exchange 1 plays between London nnd America in alliance with Messrs. Crossmilh and Malone.—(A. and X.Z. table.) Lee Shubert probably blesses Charles 11. Ifoyt for writing comedies, for it i was Hort who induced Sluiljcrt to take i liis comedies on tour. The comedies and Shubert were successful, and the young manager opened ui> with a, stock company at Cyra.cuse. together with his brother, the late Sam. They then managed the Herald Square Theatre in New York, and later managed and controlled many others until to-day llic name, of Shubert is better known in America than the nnme of Schubert.
